Latvia’s Road Traffic Safety Directorate, known as CSDD, has launched a public procurement procedure for construction work at the Biķernieki Complex Sports Base in Riga. The project focuses on rebuilding a tunnel within the sports facility and removing several outdated structures from the site.
The tender has been published through Latvia’s Electronic Procurement System. According to the available procurement information, the selected contractor will carry out the tunnel reconstruction in line with the technical specification prepared for the project. The work will also include dismantling structures that are considered visually or environmentally degrading.
One of the main requirements is that the Biķernieki sports base must continue operating during the construction period. As a result, the contractor will need to organize the works carefully to avoid major disruption to regular activities at the venue. The maximum completion period for the project is set at seven months.
The estimated contract value has not been disclosed. Companies interested in bidding are encouraged to inspect the site before submitting their offers. Visits must be arranged in advance with representatives of the sports base. This should help potential contractors assess the condition of the tunnel, understand the demolition work required, and plan how to manage construction at an active sports facility.
The winning bidder will be selected based on the most economically advantageous offer. Proposals can be submitted until October 21.
Biķernieki is one of Latvia’s best-known motorsport venues and regularly hosts racing, training, and other sporting activities. Upgrading infrastructure at the complex is important for safety, accessibility, and long-term use.
CSDD is a state-owned company under Latvia’s Ministry of Transport. It is responsible for vehicle registration, driving licences, roadworthiness inspections, and other traffic-related services.
Once a contractor is chosen, the tunnel reconstruction is expected to support the continued modernization of the Biķernieki sports complex.
